			<description>For the fourth consecutive year, the Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus competed in the Land O&amp;rsquo;Lakes (LOL) District competition, which was held this year in Rochester, Minnesota on October 27. The Oshkosh chorus was one of 17 competing choruses that each earned the right to compete at the district level by achieving qualifying scores in their respective division contests.</description>

			<title>Oshkosh Chapter Wins Packerland Division Trifecta</title>

			<description>The Oshkosh Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus, under the direction of Todd Oxley, won the championship of the Packerland Division of the Land O&amp;rsquo; Lakes District on May 5, 2012 in Stevens Point. They competed with choruses from Appleton, Stevens Point, Manitowoc, and Plymouth.The Oshkosh chapter won the division TRIFECTA with championship plaques for Most Improved, the Plateau AA (for choruses from 40 to 75 members), and the overall chorus Packerland Division championship for all plateaus competing.To compete, each chorus must sing two songs and are judged on music, presentation, and singing. The Oshkosh chapter performed &amp;ldquo;All Dressed up with a Broken Heart,&amp;rdquo; and &amp;ldquo;If You Were the Only Girl in the World.&amp;rdquo;Local groups also did well in the quartet competition with &amp;ldquo;The Cheery-O&amp;rsquo;s,&amp;rdquo; consisting of Todd Oxley and his three sons Nathan, Joshua, and Jacob, winning the quartet championship, and &amp;ldquo;One Button Short&amp;rdquo; (with members from Oshkosh and Appleton) taking third.For the fourth consecutive year, the Oshkosh Barbershoppers earned the right to compete in the Land O&amp;rsquo; Lakes District competition, which will be held this year in Rochester, Minnesota on October 27. 			<title>Oshkosh Chorus and Quartets Do Well in 2011 Competitions</title>

			<description>The Oshkosh Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus, under the direction of Todd Oxley, and chapter quartets performed well at the Packerland Division competition held in Green Bay on May 21 and also at that Land O&amp;rsquo; Lakes District (LOL) contest held in Rochester, Minnesota on October 22.  At the division level, the Oshkosh chorus, competing with groups from Appleton, Manitowoc, Stevens Point, Plymouth, Ripon and Wausau, took 2nd place and qualified for LOL District competition.  In the quartet competition, several groups with Oshkosh connections performed. The Cheery-O&amp;rsquo;s won the contest and Perfect Timing was 3rd. One Button Short came in 4th and took the novice championship. All three quartets earned the right to compete at the district level. Rooftop Rhythm, another quartet with Oshkosh members, competed in the Division 1 contest. They were crowned champions and qualified for the district.  At the LOL District contest, the Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus was one of 17 participating choruses that included groups from Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota. Each chorus earned the right to compete in the contest by achieving qualifying scores at their respective division contests. The Oshkosh chorus, all decked out in their new black tuxedos with red shirts and gray bow ties, received an excellent response from the audience as they performed their contest set: &amp;ldquo;All Dressed up with a Broken Heart,&amp;rdquo; and &amp;ldquo;If You Were the Only Girl in the World.&amp;rdquo; Competing against the best choruses in the district, Oshkosh took a very respectable 7th place, the best finish of any chorus from the Packerland Division.  In the LOL District quartet competition, two quartets with Oshkosh ties made the finals. Rooftop Rhythm were 3rd place medalists and The Cheery-O&amp;rsquo;s took 8th place. Making the semifinals were Perfect Timing and One Button Short. </description>

			<title>$7,200 Raised from 2010 Charity Concert</title>

			<description> Chorus president Dick Voakes presents three checks from the performing choruses that chose the Salvation Army as their charity to Captain Don Karl. The total amount of the checks was $1,650.The tickets have been tallied, the money has been counted, and the Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus is announcing that ...  The 2010 Community Sounds Of Christmas Tenth Annual Charity Concert was a huge success. In spite of the weather, we enjoyed performing for over 900 enthusiastic people that attended.  The barbershoppers, the performing choirs, and the charities thank all the people and organizations who have supported this fundraiser for these 10 years. Over $71,000 has been raised and distributed during this period of time to help support some very worthwhile organizations.  The charities that will share the $7,200 from this year are: The Bosom Buddies Cancer Support Group (Relay For Life), The Humane Society, The Center for Grieving Children, The MDA-ALS Association, Christine Ann Center, The local Red Cross, The American Cancer Society/Breast Cancer Research, C.H.O.I.R., and the Salvation Army.  The Groups that performed were: The South Park Choir, Fox Valley Chorus Sweet Adelines, Oshkosh Lourdes High School Chamcer Singers and Concert Choir, The Y-Nots, Carl Traeger Middle School Eighth Grade Choir, Oshkosh West A Capella Choir, The Oshkosh Choraliers, and the Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus. </description>

			<title>Oshkosh Barbershoppers Go Far in Fargo</title>

			<description>The Oshkosh Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus, under the direction of Todd Oxley, participated in the Land O&amp;rsquo; Lakes (LOL) District barbershop competition in Fargo, North Dakota on October 23, 2010. The Oshkosh chorus placed 5th overall (its highest finish ever) and 2nd for groups having 40-75 members. The group competed with choruses from Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Canada. The Ripon Harmony Kings Barbershop Chorus, which includes some dual members from the Oshkosh chapter, also competed. They were directed by Bob Kuhnz.The Oshkosh chorus previously qualified for the district contest in May by winning competition in the Packerland Division of the LOL District. The Packerland Division consists of barbershop chapters throughout northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.In the quartet competition, two Oshkosh groups made the finals. &amp;ldquo;Perfect Timing&amp;rdquo; (Ed Boehm, Bob Thiel, Lynn &amp;lsquo;Ole&amp;rsquo; Anderson, and Bob Lemkuil) took 6th place overall, and for the 8th consecutive year qualified to compete in the Barbershop Harmony Society&amp;rsquo;s International Seniors&amp;rsquo; Quartet Competition, which will be held in Las Vegas in January, 2011. The Cheery-O&amp;rsquo;s (Josh Oxley, Nathan Oxley, Jacob Oxley, and Todd Oxley), 2010 LOL Division One champions, placed 8th overall.&amp;ldquo;Main Street Station&amp;rdquo; won the quartet championship. The lead singer of this group is Jason Seiberlich, who got his start in barbershopping with the Oshkosh West High School Barbershop Chorus.&amp;ldquo;Mad Harmony&amp;rdquo; were awarded the LOL District novice quartet championship. Mad Harmony includes Josh Oxley, the young man who started the barbershop chorus at Oshkosh West in 2000, and who is now the director of the Madison chapter.</description>

The competitions were held May 15 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Other competing choruses came from Manitowoc, Stevens Point, Plymouth, Ripon, and Wausau.The chorus qualified to compete in the Land O&amp;rsquo; Lakes (LOL) District competition to be held in Fargo, North Dakota in October. The LOL District consists of barbershop chapters located in the states of Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and the Canadian Provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.In the quartet competition, several foursomes with Oshkosh ties, performed well. Counterpoint won the division championship and, for the third consecutive year, qualified to compete in the Barbershop Harmony Society&amp;rsquo;s International Collegiate Competition this June in Philadelphia. Quantum placed 3rd, Perfect Timing placed 4th, and One Button Short were novice champions. All of these quartets qualified for the LOL district competition in Fargo.</description>

The LOL District of the Barbershop Harmony Society includes the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and three Provinces of Canada. 2009 District &amp;lsquo;Plateau A&amp;rsquo; ChampionsAdding to the success of the chorus were three quartets, with Oshkosh Chapter affiliation, who were medalists or finalists in competition: CounterPoint (Corey Meverden, Jacob Oxley, Jason Seiberlich, and Ashley York) &amp;ndash; 3rd place medalists; Cheery-O&amp;rsquo;s (Jacob Oxley, Joshua Oxley, Nathan Oxley, and Todd Oxley) &amp;ndash; 5th place finalists; and Perfect Timing (Ed Boehlm, Bob Haase, Bob Lemkuil, and Bob Thiel) &amp;ndash; 7th place finalists and senior&amp;rsquo;s contest winners.</description>

			<description>The Oshkosh Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus, under the direction of Todd Oxley, competed with other choruses from the Packerland Division May 2, 2009, in Stevens Point. They won the &amp;lsquo;Plateau A&amp;rsquo; competition for chapters having 39 members or less and placed second in overall competition.The chorus qualified to compete in the Land O&amp;rsquo; Lakes (LOL) District competition to be held in Rochester, Minnesota on October 24. The LOL District includes the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and three Provinces of Canada.Counterpoint quartet, a talented group of college students with Oshkosh Chapter ties, won the 2009 Packerland Division quartet competition in the Packerland Division and qualified for LOL District competition in the fall. They also were one of two district quartets to qualify for the international college competition this July in Anaheim, California.Last year Counterpoint competed on the international stage in Nashville, Tennessee. The group includes: Jacob Oxley, Ashley York, Jason Seiberlich, and Cory Meverden.Jacob is a member of the Oshkosh Chapter, past director of the Oshkosh West High School Barbershop Chorus (who in 2008 competed in the first annual Youth International Festival/Competition in San Antonio), and director of the Oshkosh Barbershop Chorus for church sing outs in 2007 and 2008. Ashley started barbershopping in the Oshkosh Chapter at the tender age of seven and holds dual membership with the Oshkosh and Greendale Chapters. Jason was introduced to barbershopping as a member of the Oshkosh West High School Barbershop Chorus, and Cory is a member of the Fox River Valley Chapter.The Cheery-O&amp;rsquo;s quartet, 2008 Packerland Division champions, placed third in the Packerland quartet competition and qualified for LOL District competition in the fall. This talented and unique group includes Todd Oxley and his three sons Jacob, Joshua, and Nathan. Joshua directs the Madison Capitol Chordsmen and is the Director of Youth in Harmony for the LOL District. He also founded and was the first director of the nationally acclaimed Oshkosh West High School Barbershop Chorus.</description>

			<title>Meet Our Director</title>

			<description>In September 2008, Todd Oxley, a 25-year barbershopper, returned to direct the Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus. He also directed the chorus in 1997 and 1998.Todd, a distinguished music educator with over 30 years experience, recently retired as Director of Choral Music at Neenah High School. Prior to that, he served as Director of Choral Music at Winneconne High School.Todd was introduced to barbershopping by his father, Norris, a founding member of the Minocqua-Woodruff chapter. While a student at UW-Stevens Point, Todd sang tenor with the quartet, &amp;ldquo;Crowd Pleasers.&amp;rdquo; For the past 23 years, he has sung lead with the Sawdust City Slickers, past Packerland Division champions and LOL District finalists. Presently, he is singing bass in &amp;ldquo;The Cheery-O&amp;rsquo;s&amp;rdquo; with his three sons (Jacob, Joshua, and Nathan), 2007 Packerland Division champs and LOL District finalists.Through the years, Todd has been instrumental in introducing the barbershop style of music to many students and is a frequent teaching clinician at Youth In Harmony festivals.</description>
